Volunteering Opportunities

Inside This Section

Strasburg Little Leauge is completely run by volunteers. Be it board members, team managers, coaches, umpires, or others just lending a hand to maintain grounds or help with the kids or concession stand, this league is run by people giving up their time and knowledge on a volunteer basis. We could always use more help, so please consider volunteering.

Complete the form located at http://www.littleleague.org/Assets/forms_pubs/VolunteerApp2010_mandatorySSN.pdf and submit along with $5 to the SLL Board. A member in good standing has voting rights to select the Board members each year and have influence in the direction of the league.

Team Managers & Coaches

Each team needs an experienced manager to coordinate and lead practice, drill instruction, games, and overall team management. In addition to team managers, good coaches are needed to assist managers in all the above activities as well. Even if you have no experience coaching, if you love the game and want to help kids, coaching opportunities exist. To be considered for a coaching opportunity, contact the league director of interest and sign up as a volunteer during player registration.

Umpires

Without umpires, we cannot play games, and this is one of the most difficult positions to fill. Umpiring is an excellent way to get involved in the game without the time commitments of coaching. You can do behind the plate or in the field - any capacity is helpful. To learn more about umpiring, contact the Umpire-in-Chief to learn more.

Grounds Maintenance

The fields constantly need work. To maintain some of the best fields around, we seed, fertilize, water, mow, trim, drag and rake the dirt, remove rocks, paint and chalk the field, and other grounds tasks. It's not glamorous, but vital to providing our kids a safe and fun environment to play in. Typically the people maintaining the grounds are also managers, coaches, and other board members whom are quite busy already. If you would like to help with grounds maintenance, please contact the Grounds keeper or President of the league.

Other

There are plenty of ways to assist not mentioned here, such as joining various committees to do the leagues business. To offer your assistance, please contact a Board Member .
